What is the difference between Prevention HLD8 and Barbicide Concentrate?

Barbicide Concentrate is an EPA-registered disinfectant formulated with quaternary ammonium compounds and isopropyl alcohol. It has a contact time of 10 minutes, and efficacy claims against bacteria, enveloped (easy-to-kill) viruses, and fungi. As EPA-registered disinfectants are unable to submit data to support reuse claims, the solution must be disposed of at the end of each day, and a fresh solution should be prepared each day.

Prevention HLD8™ is a high-level disinfectant formulated specifically for immersing tools and implements. Unlike Barbicide, Prevention HLD8™ is a high-level disinfectant, which is registered with the FDA rather than the EPA. As such, Prevention HLD8™ exceeds the recommendations of most state guidelines, providing a higher level of protection. The HLD8 solution can be reused for up to 21 days, provided it is not visibly soiled and it produces a PASS when verified using a test strip.
